How to get referred

MSK - How to get referred - Top image
You can access our MSK services via two routes.

MSK Referrals Triage

Referrals are triaged by a senior clinician to ensure patients are seen by the most appropriate service. A referral can be triaged into MSK physiotherapy, MSK CATS, MSK podiatry or other secondary care services such as orthopaedics, rheumatology or chronic pain.

Self-referrals (to MSK Physiotherapy only)

Please complete the referral form with full, accurate information and provide any relevant investigation reports. If any information is missing or incomplete, your referral may be rejected.

GP Referrals

All Haringey and Islington GPs can refer via the MSK Single Point of Access (SPOA) pathway on Electronic Referral Service (e-RS) (formerly known as Choose and Book).

GPs can also refer via a form on EMIS system entitled 慔I MSK SPoA Referral form.

More information for GP抯 on referrals via Electronic Referral Service (e-RS) can be found in the below links along with other useful information.

MSK Physiotherapy Referrals

In MSK Physiotherapy you may be directed to one of the below for your first appointment:

  • A standard 1:1 physiotherapy assessment
  • Our specialised pain management physiotherapy assessment
  • Our Turkish speaking 1:1 physiotherapy assessment

You may then complete your treatment in one of our many exercise classes based across Haringey and Islington

MSK CATS Referrals

Your GP or Whittington healthcare professional can refer you to the MSK CATS team. All referrals to MSK CATS are triaged by an MSK CATS specialist.

You cannot self-refer to the MSK CATS team.

Referrals from other Whittington services

We accept referrals to the MSK service from other services, such as orthopaedics and rheumatology. They will refer you to us directly.
